The bathroom is one of the most integral parts of a house. It is one of those areas where a repair job is the least attractive and yet if the bathroom is left unattended then the bathroom might cause you to shell out extra bucks. So it is always better to maintain your bathroom rather than paying extra costs for fixing and repairing it. There are certain checkpoints for maintaining your bathroom. If you ensure that these practices are being followed on a regular basis then there are fewer chances of you calling a bathroom contractor for a major bathroom problem.

Loose toilet

While remodeling your bathroom, bathroom contractors fix the toilet seat in such a way that there are no loose bonds. The toilet seat is fixed with the help of sealants and if the seat is loose, water will leak through the sealant weakening the bond between the toilet seat and the adhesive. This will further lead to water seepage and can also cause damage to the flooring and the walls. The leaking water might also crawl into an empty space and can cause damage to the tiles or the concrete flooring.

You can fix this by pulling out the toilet seat and then remounting it with a new layer of sealant and adhesives. Make sure that your sealant is water repellent or else it would not mix well with the adhesive and you will have to call in a bathroom contractor to fix it up again.

Also, make sure that you use wax to fit in the bolts of the toilet seat. The bolts might come loose due to the excess amount of water and regular use.

Faulty flapper

More often than not, flapper valves cause leakage in your bathroom and increase the wear and tear of the toilet. The flapper valve is a sealing valve that is used to keep the water in the tank of the toilet. If this valve malfunctions, the water will leak to the other parts of the toilet and create a ruckus. To repair a faulty flapper you need to first understand the basic functioning of a flapper. When you press the flush button the flapper is released and the water is dislodged. The flush button and the flapper are connected through a chain. To repair a flapper you will need some rubber stoppers and a screwdriver.

Dripping faucets

Dripping faucets not only cause harm to your bathroom but also cause wastage of water. Also, dripping faucets are incredibly annoying and can keep you awake at night. To repair a dripping faucet you will first have to cut off the main water supply. Then you will have to measure the faucet valve and get a new valve of the exact measurement.

Missing tiles

Tiles can come popping out of your bathroom walls just because of waterlogging. In most cases, the tiles grouts have been invaded by running or stagnant water and thus the tiles come off the wall. This is a common problem most bathroom contractors encounter. Just squeeze out a little pre-mixed grout to seal the gap. Before applying the grout scrape off the adhesive or the mortar from the wall using sandpaper. Now apply the grout mix and press the tile on the wall or the floor and give it a few knocks. Give it some time to rest and your bathroom tile would be as good as new.

Hardened soap scum

Soap scum can build up on the bathtub or on the tiled floor of your bathroom and it is not easy to get rid of. Many people try chemical cleaners. These cleaners rob your bathroom of the sparkle as they contain chemicals that make the tiles very dull looking. Another common mistake that most people commit is that they try to scrape off the soap build-up using steel or even power tools. This is not aAA good way to get rid of soap scum. It will only leave marks on your bathroom floor and degrade the bathroom.

To get rid of soap scum you need a gentle solution of warm water and baking soda. You can also use one of the soap-scum removers that do not contain harsh chemicals. In addition to this, try using a kit for soap scum removal. The kit contains specific tools for cleaning out soap scum and does not cause any harm to the bathroom floor.

These are just some of the common bathroom problems many people have to face. However, it is always advisable to call a bathroom contractor in case you do not know how to proceed with your bathroom problems. Also, if you are new to bathroom fixing and remodeling then let a professional handle the work and yőu can ask for tips from the bathroom contractor.
