Before finalising a property, ask the owner if you can renovate the property or not. This is important as you may have found a perfect unit, situated in a prime location but falters when it comes to home décor. The first thing you would want to do in such a property is to change its décor or renovate it. However, your plans for doing the same will be ruined if the owner has some restrictions pertaining to the renovation of the property.
Undoubtedly, the budget is one of the major factors that impact the decision of renting a property. And this is an aspect where many people tend to falter. They only take into consideration the rental value and the security deposit while neglecting the additional cost of maintenance. Thus, it is important to ask your landlord at the time of signing the contract who will be responsible for maintenance charges.
Generally, it is the duty of the landlord to take care of this aspect. However, in some cases, the owner hands over this responsibility to the tenant. There are also some cases where the tenant is responsible for minor maintenance work while the landlord handles the major ones.
