You dream of a sparkling new kitchen or bath near Monclova, OH topped by a stunning granite countertop. It sounds fabulous and The Countertop Shop wants to help you make your dreams come true. Before you finalize your plans, we suggest that you take a few minutes to narrow down your choices before you arrive at our showroom.
How much do you want to spend on your new kitchen countertops?
A custom granite countertop can run you as little as $2,000 and up to $10,000 depending on the complexity and size of your project. Laminate counters are the lowest in cost for material while man-made surfaces can run somewhere in between. We recommend that you have a firm budget in mind before you start shopping for slabs.
What color do you imagine on your new countertops?
Most granite slabs come in a range of white and gray with differing levels of quartz flecks and inclusions or rust or pink. You can find some bolder options featuring stark black and even blue. If you imagine a sea of white or off-white, you may want to look at marble or a quartzite slab. Almost any color and texture is also available in quartz or solid surface.
How big and active is your family?
Do your kids take an active part in meal preparation? While stone and solid surface counters are very durable, they can crack, be scratched by knives, and even stained. You may want to opt for a less expensive surface now and upgrade in a few years when they have mastered their cooking skills.
Do you mind doing some basic maintenance on your granite countertops?
All-natural stone counters need to be sealed once or twice a year to maintain their beautiful, polished appearance and resist stains. If you do not want to spend an hour twice a year to maintain your counters, you may want to opt for a solid surface that requires no sealant.
What style of decor are you planning on for your new kitchen or bath?
Did you know that you can order your granite countertops with the edge of your choice? Since we cut all our pieces in our own shop, you have the choice of a traditional square edge, a bulky miter look, or the elegant ogee that pairs well with traditional decor. You may be limited in edge choices with laminates and manmade materials.
Are you planning on a supersized kitchen with massive counter space?
No two slabs of granite are exactly the same, even when cut from the same mountain face. If your kitchen design includes an epic number of workspaces, you will want to ensure that there are multiple slabs of the same type of granite available for your project. This will minimize a mismatched look. Otherwise, you can order a manmade surface.
