With its towering hill forts and ancient palaces, Rajasthan remains at the top of every travelers’ list, and I was no exception. Earlier this year, I decided to take a few days off work and travel to this ancient desert state. A friend of mine who had earlier taken a tour with Thrillophilia suggested the agency to me, and upon thorough perusal of some of the Thrillophilia reviews on their webpage, I decided to take their sightseeing tour of Jaipur and Ranthambore. The tour was only 5 days long, and suited me perfectly.
I booked online through the website and received an instant confirmation of my booking. In mid-March, I left for a life-changing solo trip.
The trip started from Jaipur. Upon landing at the airport, I was met by a tour representative, who guided me to my hotel. The hotel booking had been placed by the tour itself, and all I needed to do was check in. The first day was kept from all activities. I spent the morning getting a little bit of rest at the hotel and dined in for lunch.
Later that evening, I decided to go on a short sightseeing trip around the city. The first stop for the evening was the Birla Mandir, a stunning white marble Hindu temple right at the heart of the city. Having paid my respects, I paid a visit to Choki Dhani, an ethnic resort known for its cultural performances. I watched a puppet show at Chokhi Dhani, and decided to eat a traditional meal there as well.
The next morning, I met with the rest of the tour group. There were eight of us in total, and were separated into two cars as we made our way around the city. The first day was spent sightseeing around Jaipur. We covered most of the best attractions on this day.
The first stop was the Amber Fort and Palace, followed by the royal cremation grounds at Gaitore. On the way back from Gaitore, we made a pit stop at the Man Sagar Lake and decided to visit the resplendent Jal Mahal that sits on it. The day ended with a trip to the City Palace and the Jantar Mantar, two of Jaipur’s biggest heritage sites and architectural marvels.
The next day marked the second leg of our journey- the excursion to Ranthambore. After a hearty breakfast at the hotel, we left for Ranthambore by car. Upon arrival, we checked in at the designated resort and squeezed in a little bit of rest.
Later in the afternoon, we paid a visit to the majestic Ranthambore Fort. Now a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Ranthambore Fort is quite a marvel to witness. We trekked our way to the very top, where sits an ancient Ganesh Temple. The fort being atop a hill commands an excellent sunset as well, an experience I’d definitely recommend to anyone who visits the city next.
The fourth day was the most exciting one. We left early for a jungle safari at the Ranthambore National Park. The group was dropped off at Shilpgram, where the safari starts. We were met by a group from the Park who instructed us on the dos and don’ts of the safari.
Then, loading into a jeep, we left for an adventure. If you love wildlife, you’re sure to love Ranthambore. There is just so much to see here- tigers are frequently spotted, while jackals, panthers, wolves, sloth bears and several birds are common sightings as well. Moreover, the length of Ranthambore is riddled with several fort and temple ruins, which are worth a quick visit. The safari took up most of the morning, and we retired exhausted by night.
The next morning was our last one. After a quick breakfast at our resort in Ranthambore, we departed for Jaipur, marking the end of the tour. Travelling solo, I was worried about a lot of things- where I’d stay, how I’d travel, how I’d manage my itinerary and so on.
However, as the Thrillophilia Positive reviews had promised, this tour package seemed to take care of it all. While booking the package, I was asked to select a hotel of choice and the rest was arranged by the team. The sightseeing tours were carried out by an expert driver who doubled as our guide, and made sure to keep us pepped up with an endless array of interesting stories. Moreover, all of the vehicles and hotels were sanitized at frequent intervals, making travelling during pandemic as safe as possible. The Jaipur tour from Thrillophilia turned out to be even better than I expected, and I cannot wait for my next experience with the team!
