If you are planning to take the contractor’s license practice exam, we suggest that you follow our tips. First, it is important to remember that the exam consists of MCQ and true/false questions. However, there are no easy questions or forums to fill out.

Answer all the questions

If possible, you should answer every question on the exam. If you choose to leave a question unanswered, you will lose points for it. Each multiple choice question has 4 possible answers.

Identify incorrect answers

In most questions, 2 options are clearly wrong. So you may want to identify these options to increase your chances of choosing the correct one from the other two. This will make it easier for you to tackle some of the MCQs.

Follow your gut feeling

If you were unable to eliminate at least two unambiguously bad options, what would you do? In this case, it is best to follow your gut feeling and choose the option that feels right to you. Once you have made your decision, you should never change your mind again. It may seem tempting to choose another option, but don’t do it.

Guess wisely

If you have no idea which one is correct, you can choose the longest answer. In fact, longer answers are more likely to be correct because they require more explanation. So, in most cases, it is safe to choose the one with the most words.

Choose severe penalties

On a state exam, you will not be asked what you can do or get away with. Likewise, if there is a question about penalties, know that they will not be lenient. Therefore, it is a good idea to choose the option with the harshest penalty.

Avoid assumptions

It is often assumed that the correct answer may be in the middle. In other words, the correct answer is either “B” or “C.” This may have been true before the computer age, when test sheets were set by hand. But it doesn’t work today. So it’s no good assuming that the correct answer is either “B” or “C.”

Get to each question

No matter how confident you are, don’t pick an answer too quickly. This is because even one word can mean the difference between the right and wrong answer. Therefore, it is better to read each question again and again.

Math questions

It is a good idea to do a math and estimation question at the end. This will make it easier for you to do the sums because your mind will not be distracted by other questions.

Difficult questions

It is a good idea to answer the hard questions at the end. In the end, you will not get more than one point for a difficult question because the score for all of them is equal. Therefore, it is not wise to spend too much time on something that you find really difficult or confusing. You can save those questions for the last few minutes.
