So, what is the nature of the training and types of training methods? Just as the word ‘training’ refers to various types of classes or exercise that an individual may engage in for enhancing their abilities and knowledge or achieving some kind of goal or achievement, the ‘types of training methods’ are more or less identical or self-explanatory. The training methods, however, can vary from person to person depending on their need or desire or what they have decided to pursue as a career or hobby.

 

As per an estimate, there are currently approximately 1.2 million trainees in any given year. Most of these trainees come from different walks of life such as from the fields of business and education, IT and marketing, health care, construction and automotive. Some trainees are young students, while others are adults already with their own jobs and families to feed and look after. There are also elderly trainees who need to learn new skills and improve their vocational or recreational abilities.

 

In general, the trainees, after joining, are put into one of the various classes or job profiles that the training institution has established. These trainees may be put under one of the various job profiles such as training managers, instructors, managers, technician supervisors, and office assistants. There is also the situation where trainees are put in one of the many other available trainee groups such as in training management teams, finance management teams, quality control teams, training administration teams, or any other group. The trainees in these trainee groups may be taught anything and everything on the training curriculum approved by the training institution itself. What is important here is that the trainees are taught under the direction of qualified and experienced instructors, managers, and supervisors who have vast experience and expertise on whatever the trainee group they are placed in.

 

After this initial training period, the trainees are evaluated based on their performance. Their evaluations are their evaluations on whether they are capable of performing to the standards of the training institute. Training is a continuous process. This is the reason why trainees are allowed to take breaks between courses or their assignments as frequent as they want. This flexibility is very important because no two individuals are alike. What is important here is that the trainees are allowed to refresh themselves in between their learning experiences so that they can perform better the next time they are assigned a course or a task.

 

There is also another popular type of training method that are commonly used is self-directing training. Self-directing training is ideal for those who want to make training more flexible and adaptive so that the trainees can easily adapt to the training that they have been assigned. This is very helpful especially to people who have been trained on a specific process but wish to be able to modify it according to their own preferences and requirements.

In general, there are three main types of training: direct training, simulated and self-directing. Each of these types of training has its own advantages and disadvantages, and each trainee must determine the type that is most appropriate according to his needs and capabilities.
